Act 1: Love song analysis and response

Act 2: Advice Letter

"Young men's love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes." -Friar Act 2 Scene 3

This quote means that young men love with their eyes and not with their hearts. In this quote Friar is saying that Romeo does not truly love Juliet with his heart. He is only in love with her beauty.
This quote is significant to Romeo because it shows us what his character is like. It shows that Romeo is in love with beauty and is very changeable in love. He first was madly in love with Rosaline but has found someone more better looking. This is signigicant to the play because if Romeo wasn't so changeable in love he probably wouldn't have noticed Juliet's beauty.
This quote is related to life today because a lot of people judge one another based on their looks. If someone isn't pretty or handsome enough for them they won't give them a chance even though they may have a great personality. This shows that you should be careful with the people you fall in love with. They may only fall in love with what is on the outside and not in the inside. I think this can also show that you should give people chances. First glimpses shouldn't be based on their appearances but what their personality is. I think what Friar said to Romeo was very wise and true. I think we should all love from our hearts and not love one another based on our judgements.

Act 3: Newspaper Article

"... and when I shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun." -Juliet Act 3 Scene 5

This quote means when Juliet dies, turn Romeo and cut him up into stars and form a constellation in his image. Romeo's face will make the heavens so beautiful that the world will fall in love with the night and forget about the shining sun.
This is signfcant to Juliet because this shows how much she is in love with Romeo's looks. This quote doesn't say anything about who Romeo truly is but more what he looks like. This is signifcant to the play because if Juliet wasn't so in love with Romeo's looks they wouldn't have got married.
This quote is related to life today because people fall so attached to someone that they just can't let them go. Relationships shouldn't be based on just looks like what Juliet is saying about Romeo in this quote
The scrapbook page below shows that the night sky is so beautiful because Romeo is cut into stars. The dividing line means that the sun below it is forgotten and no one will pay attention to its radiant beauty.

Act 4: Parents vs. Teenagers Essay

"The tears have got small victory by that, for it was bad enough before their spite." -Juliet Act 4 Scene 1

Juliet is talking to Count Paris with this quote. Paris tells Juliet that her face has been suffered by many tears because of the grief and sadness over Tybalt's death. Juliet then says this quote. She means that her tears haven't done that much because her face looked bad enough before she started crying.
This is significant to the play because this shows how much she really doesn't care for Paris and wishes he would just go away. This is significant to Juliet because we all know that she cares about what Romeo thinks and we know that Romeo thinks she is beautiful.
This quote can be related to life today because sometimes people don't think they appear as beautiful as they think but looks don't determine a person. People try to look like something they're not just to be more self confident about themselves.
